About the September Fitness Challenge

Sometimes it's hard to fit exercise into our lives, even though we know that it is important. Because of the way we have structured our lives and our communities, we spend more time in the car and less time walking and biking to get from one place to another.

Passive Transportation means sitting in your car. Active Transportation means using your own feet and legs to get from one place to another. In Evansville, we are lucky that we can still walk and bike to many places in our city.

Active Transportation is an efficient way to get more exercise in your life, and it can help relieve stress too.

During the month of September, the Evansville Initiative challenges YOU to use Active Transportation instead of Passive Transportation.

Walking and biking to work, school, church, or to run errands are all great ways to participate! Walk alone and unwind, or walk with friends or family and make it a social event!
